November 1, 2013

We are now the proud parents of a three year old. (*SNIFF*)  What the heck.

Levi was very much looking forward to his birthday, but on the actual day, I think he got a tad overwhelmed by birthday wishes, his presents (and we really don't do many presents, he got two from us!), a well-child visit to the doctor, and a flu shot (HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUU!).  By noon he sort of shut down and didn't want to talk about being three or a big boy anymore.

Until Nana brought "the present."

The very coveted, oft-spoken "restruction jacket."  The Melissa and Doug jacket complete with hard hat, goggles, AND tools.

The poor Fire Chief jacket has gotten the boot, and a construction foreman is now at the breakfast, lunch, and dinner table.

....and the next day, Grandma and Grandpa Gouveia's gift arrived: a Black and Decker junior tool set.  Bliss.

Matt gave me this for Levi's birthday. :)  To celebrate a lengthy induction, maxed-out pitocin, five liters of fluid, a few touchy/frightening moments swarming with nurses and oxygen masks, a VERY long night of laboring down, three hours of pushing, a keester that felt like it made very personal contact with a grenade, several months on little sleep, and one hilarious little boy to more than make up for it all!!

The weather this week was insanely beautiful, so we spent every spare minute outside.  Yep, I fold laundry in the yard.

Luke's starting to 'help' and he cracked up whenever I raked.

He loves to help me sweep the house too.

I gave the boys wagon rides and then Levi hauled Luke around the yard, which Lukie loved.

Our sweet house. :)  It was a bit of an impulse buy RIGHT before the market caved, so we thought it was a starter home.  It's little, but we love, love, love it.  Little houses are easy to clean and keep you mindful of how much stuff you have and don't need!!

We went to trunk or treat at church the night before Halloween, figuring the weather was supposed to be crummy on Halloween, so why not get ahead of the game.

Poor Luke has a rashy face because he's cutting molars. :(

There were several classic cars there, including some dune buggies.  Levi was ecstatic.

Matt was dressed as.....Gentex Matt.

I was dressed as a nurse who is off the clock.

As always, the highlight of Levi's trip to church...

 .... is the church bus.

Random of Luke and Matt.  Luke is completely electrified by him.

We did a little bit of "H" this week.  I did some playing with our morning routine and I think I hit a new groove?? Maybe??  It seemed to work.

He LOVED putting together his "H" helicopter.

Luke joined in on project time.  Luke loves to sort things (well, rudimentary sorting - he likes to put things IN something), something Levi has never ever been interested in doing.  So I gave him some bath toys and a container and he happily put them in.

This is one of Levi's favorites: the shape puzzles I make up.  (The door is where the window's supposed to be, and the window is on the tree...but that's what he came up with and it's his picture so I obviously didn't say anything!)

And I found that Levi on the iPad + Luke in his high chair with a pile of popcorn (not shown) = roughly twenty minutes of silence!

Tomorrow is Levi's birthday party. We're having it at Deanna's Playhouse), which was not exactly what I wanted to do for his birthday (it seems little too...too for a third birthday), but if you refer to the above picture of our house you will see that we don't really have space for even a small fete.   Levi's been begging to go there anyway (if you have no idea what I'm talking about, Deanna's Playhouse is actually a fabulous concept: a HUGE room filled with toys.  There's a construction zone and a play Meijer setup and play houses and a theater with costumes and a music room and a baby zone and a huge boat to play on and wagons to push and play cars to drive...pay a few dollars and let your kids run free and play themselves silly).  I invited his two besties from church and two neighbor boys; I figured, if Levi walked into a room, who would he recognize and want to play with?  Josiah, Jack, Eli and Felix.  Boom.  There was our invite list.  The theme is John Deere tractors and I'm not ashamed to admit that I commissioned Aunt Mary to make the cake because mine would be up on the Pinterest Fail website that everyone goes to for a good laugh.

Pictures to come!!
